Call of the Ocean
The Call of the Ocean is a 1h 19min documentary film about Tapio Lehtinen, who took part in the extremely challenging Golden Globe Race in 2018-19, and became one of the sport’s legends with his performance. The race is sailed alone around the globe with boats representing the technology of 1968, without stops, refuelling, or physical human contact. Lehtinen completed the 30,0000 nautical mile voyage in 322 days, which elevated him to the ranks of international sports legends. Lehtinen is the sixth person in the world to have circumnavigated the globe via Cape Horn singlehanded, without stopping, navigating only with a sextant.

OGR leg 2: “Oh, Auckland (save us a beer or two)”
Galiana WithSecure's summary of the 2nd leg of the Ocean Globe Race, again in the form of a song. This time, we chose a traditional Finnish Christmas song by Jean Sibelius and gave it a Southern Ocean twist. Enjoy!

Tapio Saavalainen flew down to Punta del Este to help us with planning the tactics for the last leg. He also interviewed the whole team on video and edited a documentary of our OGR project, containing also historical footage of the early Whitbread races.
Towards the end of each of the four legs of the OGR 2023 our multitalented co-skipper Ville Norra made a music video of the leg. He had a special permission from Don McIntyre to use his equipment to edit the videos and combine it with one traditional/classic Finnish melody to which he made new lyrics telling the story of the leg about to end. Ville made and recorded each of the four videos during the last days of the leg while having locked himself in the "Galiana recording studios" in the forepeak behind the submarine door. As the boat was docked, the new song was performed either by Ville or accompanied by the whole team. Enjoy!
OGR Leg 4: “Spirit of the OGR”

L’Étoile de Tapio
After the sinking of Asteria in the Indian Ocean my French friend Loran Rydzyk made lyrics to a beautiful song composed by Philippe Fouassier and sung by Julia. It was turned into a video in the memory of my beloved boat.

OGR leg 1: “Port Tack Blues”
On the first leg of the Ocean Globe Race, after the doldrums, Galiana WithSecure spent more than three weeks in a row on port tack, which was enough to make one leg grow longer than the other, and also give Ville the inspiration to the Port Tack Blues. Original song ’Pilvee, pilvee’ from 1978 by classic Juice Leskinen.
