Oskari Häkkilä
BOAT CAPTAIN
Oskari Häkkilä started sailing relatively late, at the age of 24, six years ago, stepping directly into offshore sailing after buying his own boat. Since then, he has built experience on the Baltic Sea, as well as on the Atlantic and in the Caribbean, taking part in offshore races and deliveries, and joining the Galiana project from the RORC Baltic 600 2024 onwards.
His home waters are in the northern Baltic, where much of his sailing background is rooted.
On board Galiana, Oskari is responsible for the boat’s technical side, looking after systems and helping to keep things running as they should, both at sea and in harbour.
He is known for staying calm and in good spirits, even when conditions are less than ideal. His approach is steady and practical, shaped by his background working with heavy machinery across Europe.
Oskari enjoys sailing in all its forms, but especially longer passages, where the rhythm of life at sea settles in and the passage itself becomes the focus.
